Building Faith – Developing Minds

Welcome New Faculty Members

ECS Would like to welcome two new faculty members to the team.

Mrs. Amber DeGroff-

A graduate of Fairmont State University, math major Amber DeGroff joins Emmanuel staff. With computer science as Amber’s minor, she adds much to the upper school program. Mrs. DeGroff is the mother of three, and wife of Joseph, a former Emmanuel student. The DeGroffs are very faithful and involved members of Buckhannon Alliance Church. She is an AWANA director of cubies. Junior church is another area in which Mrs. DeGroff serves.

Geometry and algebra are two of the math areas she enjoys. Mrs. DeGroff is versed in Microsoft and looks forward to implementing them in the classroom. Reading and singing are hobbies in which Mrs. DeGroff engages. With children entering K4, 2nd, and 4th, Mrs. DeGroff is expecting a long career at Emmanuel. The DeGroffs family calls Buckhannon home, including Sophie, their cat.

Mrs. Chrystie Saab-

Chrystie Saab started her teaching career in 2008 as a teacher and then program director. After completing a Bachelors of Arts in Criminal Justice from Salem-Teikyo University, Mrs. Saab returned to study childhood education with a practicum at Fairmont State University. Putting her training to use at Emmanuel Baptist Church, Mrs. Saab servers in the toddler nursery, VBS, and hopes to add e-kids, (Emmanuel’s children’s church service) to her list.

Organization skills area a strong point of Mrs. Saab’s. Science and English are the subjects Mrs. Saab most enjoys. Planning hands-on learning tools for her soon-to-be students is a concentration this summer. Implementing technology in the classroom is another area Mrs.

Saab looks forward to including. Mrs. Saab stated that her favorite part of teaching is seeing students grow in knowledge, and her reward is the proof of learning when they apply their abilities.

Mrs. Saab will be teaching third grade this year at Emmanuel.  Husband, Jaysen Saab, works at the biometrics company Bima, and is an evangelist preacher. Their three children are enrolled in K 3, 2nd,and  5th grades. Sneaking in a weekend family visit to Michigan, and a traditional family week at Ocean City, MD are the Saab’s summer plans. Bible reading and time with her children are Mrs. Saab’s favorite pastimes.
