There was a time in America when we could paint a picture of a difficult and drab life in Kansas and credibly contend it licks the world of Oz hollow.
English speakers already speak Greek, even if we don’t know it. But knowing it unlocks the English language, and opens the mind to a new way of seeing and understanding the world.
Headmaster Batten concludes our study of The Beginning of Philosophy by Dr. Owen Anderson, which tells us not merely where philosophy begins but what its end is.

Children enrolled at school do NOT belong to the school. Emmanuel Christian School respects parental freedom.
Many people who choose to homeschool or enroll their children in a private school do so as a matter of values. Adding a microschool option gives families at Emmanuel Christian School greater freedom!
Students with eyes full of wonder and bellies full of laughter will change the world (thanks, N.D. Wilson)!
The curriculum is not just the books we use and the classes we teach. It is the life course upon which we set our graduates. Emmanuel Christian School aims to graduate good people, useful citizens, and faithful disciples.
In a world that rebels against God’s creation, Emmanuel Christian School insists that girls are girls.
God created manhood, and it was good. The path to manhood runs through boyhood. At Emmanuel Christian School, boyhood is something we want to cultivate into healthy manhood.
Math is a human endeavor, and we should pursue it to better know God and how He has revealed Himself.
Dear ECS Family,
As we noted yesterday, the HOPE Scholarship has been upheld as constitutional by the WV Supreme Court! This is a huge win for which we thank God. We also want to thank the West Virginia Christian Education Association for putting together an amicus brief in defense of the HOPE Scholarship on behalf of Christian schools. We do not currently have many details regarding what getting the program back up and running will look like, but we will try to update you as we learn more.
Dear ECS Family,
As you know, Monday, September 5th is Labor Day. We will not have school. Classes will resume on Tuesday, September 6th. Enjoy the three day weekend!
We are pleased to announce the release of our 50th Anniversary Commemorative Coin (see attachment). These coins are for sale in the School Office for $12 while supplies last. They are 2 inches by 2 inches, and come in a PVC pouch. We thank God for granting us 50 years of working with students and families to deliver a Christian education.
