Since 1972 Emmanuel Christian School has endeavored to provide young people with an education that is academically excellent and passionately Christ-centered. By the grace of God at work through many passionate supporters, we've been able to do just that for the past 50 years in our Kindergarten through Twelfth grade school. To ensure that Christian Education remains accessible and affordable for families in our community for many years to come, our school board has created The Eagle Council to assist in those efforts.

What is the Eagle Council?

The Eagle Council is a group of committed supporters who support Emmanuel Christian School (ECS) in achieving its mission “To prepare young people to live a godly and productive life in a sin-cursed world by training them both spiritually and academically with an emphasis on edification, education, and evangelization.”

The Council is not tasked with governance, but with supporting the work of Emmanuel Christian School through fundraising, hosting, advising, ambassing, and giving.

  • The Eagle Council expands the fundraising reach of Emmanuel Christian School in target markets.

  • The Eagle Council plans, organizes and hosts formal and informal events for building and maintaining alumni relationships, building organizational reputation in the community, and identifying new donors.

  • The Eagle Council advises on matters defined by the Head of School and the pastors of Emmanuel Baptist Church.

  • The Eagle Council serve as ambassadors of Emmanuel Christian School in the broader community.

  • The Eagle Council is comprised of some of our greatest givers who generously contribute financially to the ministry of Emmanuel Christian School.

    Pastor Reece is one of the pastors at Emmanuel.

  • Josh Brown

    PASTOR AT EMMANUEL

    Pastor Josh is one of the pastors at Emmanuel and is dad to Cohen (5th grade) and ElaiaGrace (2nd grade). It was at Emmanuel as a student in 2001 that Pastor Josh began to sense the Lord calling him away from pursuing a career in medicine to pastoral ministry. God would later reunite Pastor Josh with his love for medicine in his role as Executive Director of Health Access Free and Charitable Clinic. Today Pastor Josh continues to serve as a bivocational pastor and is committed to ensuring that students in North Central West Virginia have access to a God-centered education.

    In addition to his work at Emmanuel and Health Access, Pastor Josh also serves on a number of boards and community service organizations including:

    The Clarksburg Mission

    The Harrison County Chamber of Commerce

    The Harrison County Chamber Ambassadors

    The Clarksburg Kiwanis Club

  • Josiah Batten

    HEADMASTER AT EMMANUEL

    Mr. Josiah Batten is the headmaster at Emmanuel Christian School. In addition to his duties at Emmanuel, he also chairs the Human Rights Committee for a local group home for boys in State custody. And each Summer he serves as a City Government instructor for the American Legion Mountaineer Boy’s State Program.

    His background is in organizational development, and he oversaw and expedited accreditation process for a local group home.

    He married his wife, Jessica, in 2014, and they have two daughters, Nyssa and Cora.

  • Mary and Clarence Mutscelknaus

    OWNER AT MUTSCHELKNAUS ENTERPRISES

    Clarence “Willie” Mutshelknaus was born in Salem, WV and attended Salem College. He operates Mutschelknaus Enterprises, an extensive oil, gas, and timber operation, and resides with his dear wife, Mary, in Salem. He is a philanthropist and gives to many causes through his Mutschelknaus Family Foundation. He is also a member of the Fort New Salem Foundation.
